Unicity Reviews: What to Know About the Company, Products, and Experience

Maybe someone told you about Unicity. Maybe you came across one of our products online, heard our name somewhere, or simply wanted to learn more about who we are and what we make.
Whatever brought you here, doing some research before trying a new health product—or learning more about the company behind it—makes sense.
If you're searching for Unicity reviews, you may be looking for several different kinds of information at once. What kind of company is Unicity? How long have we been around? What goes into our products? What does the science look like? How can you buy our products? And where can you go if you want to dig deeper?
So rather than give you a slogan, we'd rather give you the information.
Here's a closer look at Unicity, our history, some of the products we're best known for, the research behind them, and what you can expect if you're considering trying Unicity for yourself.
Who is Unicity?
Unicity is a global health and wellness company focused on developing products that support metabolic health and everyday healthy living.
Our roots stretch back much further than the Unicity name itself. Rexall was founded as a U.S. pharmacy in 1903. Rexall-Sundown was founded in 1988, and Bios Life—the product that would eventually become Unicity Balance—was introduced in 1990.
In 1991, a person-to-person sales model was implemented to help explain products that often required more context than a nutrition label or retail shelf could provide. In 2001, Rexall Showcase International and Enrich International came together to form Unicity.
Today, we have more than 400 products sold in 60+ countries, and our company reports 50+ scientific studies conducted. Those numbers help show how much Unicity has grown, but the story behind that growth is worth understanding too.
You can explore the timeline and the milestones that shaped our company on our Unicity history page, or see a broader snapshot of the company on Who We Are.
Our story started with a product that needed some explaining
One of the more interesting parts of our history is that the business model grew, in part, out of a practical problem.
Bios Life was originally sold in retail stores throughout the United States. But it wasn't the kind of product whose full story was easy to understand by looking at a package on a shelf. It contained a specialized approach to soluble fiber, and people often needed more information about what made it different from a typical supplement.
So the company began using a person-to-person sales process that gave people more opportunity to explain the products and how they were intended to be used.
That model became part of Unicity's growth into international markets, while our product portfolio continued to expand.
In 2006, Stewart Hughes was named CEO of Unicity. He had originally joined the company as a Distributor after his own experience with Bios Life. Under his leadership, the company continued expanding its focus on metabolic health, product development, research, and international growth.
The timeline includes several other milestones, including the launch of Unimate in 2017, the launch of Feel Great in 2021, and the opening of our Botanical Research Center that same year.
Throughout that growth, our mission has remained simple: Make Life Better.
What kind of products does Unicity make?
With more than 400 products sold around the world, there isn't much value in trying to turn this blog post into a catalog.
Instead, it makes more sense to look at a few products that help explain our approach.
Three names you'll see frequently when researching Unicity are Balance, Unimate, and Feel Great. Balance and Unimate are individual products with very different formulations. Feel Great brings the two together as part of a daily system.
Balance: our roots in soluble fiber
Balance has an unusually long connection to our company history. Its predecessor, Bios Life, dates back to 1990.
At the center of Balance is a combination of soluble fibers and other ingredients. Its Biosphere Fiber® formula includes guar gum, locust bean gum, citrus pectin, oat fiber, and beta-glucan. Unicity 7X™ includes plant-derived polysaccharides and gum arabic, while Bios Cardio Matrix™ includes phytosterols and policosanol.
Balance also contains a range of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, C, E, several B vitamins, calcium, zinc, and chromium.
There's some useful science behind why soluble fiber behaves the way it does. Certain soluble fibers absorb water and form a viscous, gel-like consistency as they move through the digestive system. That physical characteristic is one reason soluble fiber has been studied extensively in nutrition and metabolic-health research.
For anyone who wants the specifics rather than a summary, the Balance product page provides the ingredient information, available options, directions for use, and other product details.
Unimate: a different look at yerba mate
Unimate takes a very different approach. Its primary ingredient is an extract made from green yerba mate leaves. Yerba mate is a South American plant with a long history of traditional use and naturally contains a number of compounds that researchers have studied, including chlorogenic acids, mate saponins, theobromine, and caffeine.
How that raw material is handled matters to us.
The yerba mate used in Unimate goes through our BioSelect™ Process, which includes selective harvesting, bioactive preservation, precision refinement, bioactive concentration, and efficacy assurance.
Regular Unimate naturally contains caffeine. Because caffeine occurs naturally in yerba mate, the amount isn't standardized in the same way it would be if a specific quantity of isolated caffeine were added. Decaffeinated Unimate options are also available.
If you'd like to look more closely at the available varieties, ingredients, usage directions, and other details, you'll find them on the Unimate product page.
Feel Great: bringing Balance and Unimate together
Feel Great isn't a third formula replacing Balance or Unimate. It's a system built around using the two products together.
A 30-day Feel Great pack includes two boxes of Unimate and one box of Balance. The system is designed around a simple daily routine that pairs Unimate with periods between meals and Balance around meals, alongside time-based eating.
That's an important distinction if you're researching Feel Great reviews or trying to understand what people mean when they talk about the Feel Great system. You're not looking at one supplement with a long ingredient list. You're looking at two separate products with different formulations and roles within the routine.
The Feel Great page explains what's included, how the system is structured, available flavor combination options, ingredients, and usage information.
How much science is behind Unicity products?
This is an area where we think details matter. Our company reports more than 50 scientific studies conducted, and we maintain a dedicated Unicity Science website where anyone can explore a selection of research associated with our products, ingredients, and areas of scientific interest.
The research available there covers a range of subjects rather than one single outcome.
For example, the studies presented on the site include research involving soluble fiber and metabolic markers, post-meal blood glucose and insulin responses, appetite and satiety, yerba mate, the gut microbiota, cardiometabolic health, and other areas related to metabolic health. There are also studies examining Balance, Unimate, Feel Great, and earlier Bios Life formulations.
That doesn't mean every study answers every question about a product, and it doesn't mean every finding should be generalized beyond what was actually studied. Research has to be read in context: who participated, what was measured, how long the study lasted, what formulation was tested, and what the results actually showed.
That's one reason we think it's better to make the research available rather than reduce everything to a marketing line.
If science is an important part of how you evaluate a nutrition product, browse the research studies on Unicity Science and look at the individual studies that are most relevant to what you're researching.
Ingredients are only part of the product story
Knowing what's in a product is important. Knowing how it's made and tested matters too.
Our product materials identify Balance and Unimate as being independently third-party tested, and the products are made in GMP-certified facilities. GMP, or Good Manufacturing Practices, refers to manufacturing standards covering areas such as production processes, quality controls, facilities, and documentation.
This is the less glamorous side of supplements, but it's an important one. A formula can look interesting on paper; manufacturing and quality-control practices help determine whether that formula is produced consistently.
We also maintain our own Botanical Research Center, which opened in 2021 as part of our broader work in product and botanical research.
For the most detailed information about an individual product—including ingredients, serving information, directions, and available options—the individual product pages are the better resource. Those pages can also be updated as products or options change over time.
What do Unicity reviews tell you?
Reviews can be useful, especially when you're trying to understand what it's actually like to use a product or interact with a company. But they're most useful when you understand what kind of information a review can—and can't—give you.
People's experiences with nutrition products are personal. A review can tell you what one person liked or didn't like, how they used something, what a flavor was like to them, or how their overall experience went. It can't tell you how every other person will respond.
The same is true of company reviews. Depending on where you're looking, you may be reading feedback about a product, an order, customer service, someone's experience as an independent Distributor, or someone's experience as an employee. Those are different experiences, even though they may all appear under the Unicity name in search results.
That's why we'd recommend looking at more than a star rating or a single review—positive or negative.
If you're researching a particular product, look at the actual formulation and directions. If you're interested in the science, look at the research. If you have questions about ordering, shipping, returns, or your account, check the applicable policies and support information.
In other words, reviews can be one part of your research. They don't have to be the whole thing.
How can you buy Unicity products?
Unicity products are sold through our person-to-person business model as well as through our online shopping experience.
If someone introduced you to Unicity, that person may be an independent Unicity Distributor who can help explain products and answer questions. You can also use our online product pages to review product information and available purchasing options.
This model has been part of our history for decades. It developed because some of our earliest products needed more explanation than they were getting in a traditional retail environment.
Today, of course, people have much more information at their fingertips. That's one reason we maintain public product pages, educational content, company information, and scientific resources online. Whether you're talking with someone about a product or researching it on your own, you should be able to dig into the details.
For questions involving an order, account, shipping, returns, or other practical issues, our Help Center is a good place to start.
What should you know before trying Unicity?
If you're considering one of our products, start with the same basics we'd want you to consider with any nutritional supplement: look at the ingredients, understand how the product is intended to be used, and make sure it makes sense for you.
Pay particular attention to ingredients that may matter based on your individual circumstances. For example, regular Unimate contains naturally occurring caffeine from yerba mate, while decaffeinated options are available.
Our Feel Great materials describe the system as intended for healthy adults. If you're pregnant or nursing, taking medication, or managing a medical condition, talk with an appropriate healthcare professional before using a nutritional supplement or making a significant change to your diet or routine.
And don't feel like you have to make a decision based on one source of information.
You can look at our products. Read about our history. Explore the science. Read reviews from other people. Ask questions. Compare what you find.
That's what good research looks like.
More than three decades of Unicity
A lot has changed since Bios Life was introduced in 1990 and Unicity was formed in 2001.
We've expanded into more than 60 countries. Our product portfolio has grown to more than 400 products worldwide. We've developed products such as Balance and Unimate, built the Feel Great system around them, opened our Botanical Research Center, and continued investing in research around metabolic health.
But numbers and timelines only tell part of the story.
Ultimately, if you're researching Unicity, we think you should be able to find substantive information about us—not just promotional language. That includes where we came from, what's in our products, how they're made, how they're used, what has been studied, and where you can go when you want to look more closely.
Our mission is Make Life Better. Part of living up to that is giving people enough information to make informed decisions for themselves.
If you'd like to keep exploring, you can learn more about Unicity and our company, walk through our history, or dig into the research available through Unicity Science.
