Unicity Make Life Better Foundation: April 2025 update

Goats to Uganda: 166 goats, 83 families

So far the violent conflict in Sudan has displaced over 12 million people, with many people having found safety in the neighboring country of Uganda, although resources continue to remain scarce. Last month, Unicity successfully sponsored our first delivery of goats to Uganda: 166 goats for 83 families!

Back in Sudan, one of the families was the Abass family. Ehklass Abass and her family had five goats and a flock of chickens, while her husband worked as a lawyer. Now, the Abass family has fled the conflict in Sudan and safely relocated in Uganda, but face the challenge of suffering from hunger. Ehklass’ family received two goats last month in our first goat delivery to Uganda saying, ”I will use the milk for my three children, so they can grow. With the goats, we can help ourselves be okay until the war stops in Sudan.”

In an effort to help provide relief in the current food crisis, the newly delivered goats are providing a lifeline—offering milk, yogurt, and cheese for nourishment and income.

Scholarship spotlight: Brian Getalla—Bachelors of Science, Criminology

Congrats to Brian Getalla, who recently graduated from University and passed the criminologist licensure examination.

Preparation for the exam involved rigorous studying, sometimes for as long as 18 hours a day. Brian credits the Unicity scholarship for helping him achieve his dreams and is grateful for the opportunity he now has to serve his country and work to create a better future.

His hope now is to pay it forward and help someone else reach their high goals, defining his success as the determination to, “Study smart, not hard. Work to overcome hard things through time management and self-discipline. “
